After winning the toss and electing to field, Sidcup showed great discipline with the ball to restrict Bexleyheath to 109–6 from their 20 overs. Wickets were shared across the side, with Quinn Deacon, Dominic Westwood, Kavya Saxena and Hazel Uppal each picking up a wicket, while there were also sharp contributions in the field including run-outs from Hazel and Dom. Massive shout out to Quinn who bowled with serious pace, bounce and a great amount of discipline to threaten the channel outside the off stump through his three over spell especially in his final over against Bexleyheath’s opener who had returned to the crease after the rest of his team had dismissed. Also, to Will Dennis, who, on his U11A team debut while still an Under 9, bowled some lovely deliveries in his two over spell.
Sidcup maintained steady pressure throughout thanks to composed bowling and some excellent tactical contributions not only from skipper Murphy Solway but backed up with good ideas being shared by others like Tom Vickerstaff, Dom and Quinn. This limited scoring opportunities despite some really solid batting from the home side. The bowlers worked well as a unit, supported by tidy fielding and multiple displays of high energy fielding from Quinn, Dom and Will to attack the ball and limit what could repeatedly have been two runs to just singles.

In reply, Sidcup delivered an outstanding batting performance, chasing down the target without loss in just 14.2 overs. The innings was built on a series of confident partnerships, reflecting both positive intent and excellent running between the wickets.

Retired not out contributions from Vani Saxena (22*), Seth Philip (22*) and Dom (20*) set a strong platform, before skipper Murphy (who scored 18 not out off just 11 balls including two massive sixes that kept a big crowd entertained) and Tom (who finished on 6 not out including his first ever boundary for Sidcup) calmly guided the team over the line.

The partnerships scored fluently throughout, with several boundaries and an impressive strike rate ensuring the chase was completed comfortably.

Following a stuttering performance in the season opener against Blackheath This was a hugely pleasing win, showcasing:
