We are delighted to announce that Sport England have accepted our application to fund the renovation of the 1st team square and outfield to the tune of £46,000. This work will see the square skimmed and re-seeded and the whole outfield levelled to provide a true playing surface, albeit on a slight slope, just like Lords! The work is planned to commence at the beginning of October and continue for several months but will be ready by the start of the 2014 season. This is fantastic news at the start of this season which we can look forward to with even more optimism about the future of SCC.

The 2013 Season got underway last weekend with 2 days of great matches at the Club! Despite the chilly temperatures, the first match of the weekend on Saturday was played for the most part in glorious sunshine! Beggy's Borrowers squared off against Mike's Buchaneers in the intra-club fixture with each side having a solid mix of players from all levels of the club! In the end, the Buchaneers proved the victors in what was a good game with everyone having a part to play.

Despite being one Amigo down (get well soon Roger) the quiz night held at the Club on Friday 15th March hosted 22 teams all vying to be crowned Quiz Night Champions. Quiz master Brian was in full flow with questions on the London Underground (which 2 stations have the shortest distance between them?), Australia (what do Australians know as a Jumbuck?) and music (What was Queen's first hit?) in 10 rounds including picture quiz rounds on famous 'Jack's' and well known bridges. The winners were Alan McCawley's team of youth and experience with the unpronouncable team name!
